A graduate and three-year letter winner at Florida Southern from 1980-82, Snow earned second team All-Sunshine State Conference honors, while helping lead the Moccasins to a 48-8 record and the SSC Championship. A fixture within the Orlando volleyball community, Snow has been Co-Director of the Orlando Volleyball Academy and helped found the organization in 1996.

Prior to OVA, Orlando volleyball was a small blip in the grand scheme of club volleyball.  Since the inaugural season, which had seven teams, OVA has grown into one of the elite club volleyball programs and has over 20 teams.  OVA has achieved a record that is unparallel in the state of Florida. Since 1996, the club has had more than 125 student-athletes attend college on volleyball scholarships. With 22 AAU All-Americans, five USA Volleyball All-Americans and three Fab 50 players, Orlando is often revered as one of the elite volleyball locations.
During that time she has served as head coach of several club and junior national teams. Her team finished ranked third-nationally in 1998, 12th in 1999, and second in 2001.  Three of her teams have finished as the national runner-up.

Yvonne graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. While there, she participated in three National Championships in volleyball and two softball National Tournaments. Yvonne was voted MVP and nominated to the Metro Hall of Fame for outstanding contribution to athletic competition.  She played USABA volleyball for six years, and has officiated NAGWS, NCAA, and USVBA volleyball for 25 years.

In 1996, she founded Orlando Volleyball Academy and has served as Tournament Director for the National Amateur Athletic Union since 1998 and the Sunshine State Games since 1999. In 1999, Yvonne was the tournament director for the National Senior games held at Disney's Wide World of Sports for volleyball and badminton. Her work over the past several years in hosting girls' junior tournaments earned her the Best Tournament Host Award for the Florida Region in 2007.

Yvonne has been very active in building youth and adult volleyball in the Florida, serving as the commissioner for USA Volleyball Florida Region from 2001-2005 and the Junior Region Coordinator for girls volleyball from 2005-2008.

Wendy has coached at the high school and college level and has been with OVA for 3 years.  She currently is a registered nurse and works for the Volusia County School System as a Nursing Supervisor and coach at University High School in Orange City.

Elaine Bowen

Elaine Bowen is a graduate of Crestwood High School in Mantua, Ohio.  Bowen is a four year letterman in varsity volleyball. She  was  MVP both junior and senior year and athele of the week for Plain Dealer newspaper.  Bowen went on to play volleyball at Lakeland Community College where she took most offensive player both freshman and sophomore year. This is her first year coaching and she has such a passion for the game.  She is very excited about coaching at Orlando volleyball Acamedy. 

Cynthia Ortega

Cynthia began playing volleyball at the age of 12.  She was a natural at the setter position and played that position for her entire volleyball career.  She played club volleyball for six years and was the starting setter on her high school team (which was one of the top high school teams in Puerto Rico).  Cynthia was named MVP in several high school tournaments and Athlete of the Year her senior year.

She was awarded a scholarship at University of Sacred Heart, San Juan, Puerto Rico.  After college, her talents were recognized at the next level and she was asked to play semi-professional volleyball, which she did for 3 years. She continued playing in adult tournaments and she and her husband, Felix Viera, were both awarded the MVP award in a tournament (this was the first time a couple won the MVP awards in the same year).

When Cynthia began coaching, she found her niche with the younger players.  She has primarily coached 10U, but also spent some time working with girls in the 12U age group.  Cynthia coached in a private school and helped develop one of the strongest school programs in Puerto Rico.  She was successful in leading her teams to the championship bracket on several occasions. She led her school team to the finals of the National School Tournament where they won the gold medal.

Angel Vazquez

Angel started playing volleyball since he was 9 years old, standing out as a leader in the court and having the opportunity to be captain for several occasions.  He played in middle and high school in P.R. as a DS and outside hitter, winning the MVP award several times in tournaments. While playing professional volleyball in P.R., he was on the top ten list in defense on his second year. In 2001 he worked as a coach and as a sport recreational leader in the Recreational and Sport Department in P.R.  Also he gave volleyball clinics and coached girls from the age of 14 to 16 years old in P.R. for two years. While studying in college he served as a volunteer coach at the Puerto Rican Federation Minor League (FPV) of boys from the age of 14 and 15 years old for two consecutive years.  He graduated from Interamerican University of P.R. with a bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education.  He started coaching the boys’ high school volleyball team in Sacred Heart of Jesus private school for 3 consecutive years in Ponce P.R.; winning one championship and two sub championships in the competition of catholic schools of the south area of P.R. Then he worked as a sports coordinator at (POPAC) Ponce Paramedical College in Ponce P.R. Vazquez started working at OVA last fall during Mini Club season 2011 and is continuing to pursue his passion with OVA during club season. 

Anna Hollis-Childress

Anna Hollis-Childress is a 1989 Oviedo High School graduate who played every sport growing up, but volleyball was unheard of until her freshman year in high school. She worked hard and learned the sport quickly while playing for the legendary Anita Carlson at Oviedo High. She earned a Division I college scholarship to play volleyball at the University of South Carolina at Coastal. While there she maintained a 3.8 GPA and earned academic All-American honors and graduated with a degree in Secondary Math Education. She returned to Oviedo High in 1993 to begin her teaching and coaching career. She has been a volleyball and softball coach during various years at Oviedo High School. This year she coached the Oviedo Freshman squad to a 21 -3 record and they won the final year end state-wide freshman tournament held at OVA.

Lindsay is a graduate of Bishop Moore High School, where she played volleyball all four years. She went on to play middle at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Lindsay is currently in her second year at Bishop Moore as the freshman coach, and will begin her first season as the boys JV coach this spring. She has also been coaching for Orlando Gold for the past two seasons. This is Lindsay's first year with OVA.

Graduated from Barron G. Collier in 1983 and went on to play Div. 1 Volleyball at Stetson University all four years. After graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, she started her teaching and coaching career in Orlando, Florida. She is currently at Winter Springs High School and has been to the Florida Volleyball State Finals six times, has four Regional Titles, Ten District Titles, and has won the Seminole Athletic Conference five times. She has coached for OVA since the inaugural season.

Roberto Santasofia

Roberto played professional volleyball in Brazil as a defensive specialist. Roberto has been with OVA since 2004. His 13 Asics team qualified for the 2008 USAV Junior Olympic National Championships and finished in 3rd. Roberto has also been the Assistant Coach for Rollins College for the last 4 years.

Sheri Cooper

Sheri has 13 years of indoor and 10 years of beach volleyball playing experience. She was an outside hitter for her LHS Dreadnaught team and aspired to be a 5’7” outside hitter for a D1 college. With jump training and dedicated off-season training she earned a scholarship to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Sheri was the starting RS three out of four years and led her team to 3 NCAA appearances. During her college career she made 6 All-tournament teams, was Southern Conference player of the week, Southern Conference First Team and Southern Conference Tournament MVP. Her greatest college accomplishment was being the first female athlete at ASU to earn the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year in 1994.

After earning a degree in Early Childhood Education, Sheri was introduced to beach volleyball. After spending 5 years transitioning to beach through Pro Am tours, Sheri decided to travel and compete in the AVP Tours. The most difficult part of this was maintaining a teaching position, coaching, personal training, traveling and practicing. While she played beach she was able to coach in various programs: TBJVC, United, Southern Select…She was fortunate to be the Varsity Asst when Berkeley Prep became State Champs in 1997. While Sheri traveled, she was able to assist a varsity team in Mannheim, Germany and coach beach clinics in Puerto Rico. She was the head varsity coach at Wharton High School in Tampa with two winning seasons and is now rebuilding Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland where she resides with her two young children.

Jenni Luke

Jenni started playing volleyball when she was twelve. During her high school years, Lincoln Northeast HS won the 1984 state championship and Jenni was selected for the All-State team her junior and senior years. Jenni earned a scholarship to the University of Nebraska at Kearney and was a three year starter as the setter. Jenni was selected for all conference three years, was a CoSida Academic All-American in 1990 and won the Nebraska NCAA Woman of the Year Award that same year.  In 2011, Jenni was inducted into the University of Nebraska at Kearney Athletic Hall of Fame.  Jenni continues to play beach volleyball and won the Women's AA Zephyrhills 2006 National Championship and Women's AAA Zephyrhills 2008 National Championship.  Jenni has coached at OVA since 2006.  She has also coached at Lincoln Northeast High School in 1998, Lincoln Juniors Volleyball club in 1997 & 1998, Wahine Volleyball Club (NC) in 2004 and currently coaches at Rock Lake Middle School.  Jenni has two daughters playing for Orlando Volleyball Academy.  Hailey plays on the 17 Asics and Brittany plays on the 14 Molten.

Sophie Zillman

Born and raised in Germany, Sophie began playing Volleyball and Soccer at the age of 10. She played Soccer for the German Junior National Team at the age of 15. Having played Volleyball at both high school and club level in Germany, she went on to study and play abroad for a year in South Africa. Whilst pursuing her Associates Degree in International Business and Government Relations at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA, Sophie represented the college's successful volleyball team, and was named MVP twice as well as awarded Setter of the Year by the conference. She would then go on to attain her Bachelors Degree in Marketing at Webber International University and gain more experience at high-level collegiate volleyball. Furthermore, Sophie coached at Stingray Volleyball club as well as Vision Volleyball Club. She is currently pursuing her MBA in International Business Management and loves to travel, play tennis and golf.

Graduated from Cherokee Highschool in '07 and played club junior and senior year at A5 out of Atlanta. Went to Presbyterian College, D1 liberal Arts college in South Carolina to play volleyball. Started 4 years for Presbyterian and played middle hitter. Was named second team all-conference sophomore year and all-conference senior year. Had the highest hitting percentage in Big South Conference senior year, and was also ranked in the top 10 senior year in Big South conference for most kills. Graduated in December 2011 from PResbyterian with a 3.0 in Middle School Education degree with a concentration in Langiage Arts and Social Studies.

Felix was a late bloomer by Puerto Rican standards as he started playing volleyball at the age of 14, but once he started, he quickly excelled at the sport.  For the next four years he played both high school and club volleyball. His senior year he was chosen as Athlete of the Year. He was recognized as one of the top players in his age group and was awarded a scholarship to play at Central University of Bayamon, Puerto Rico.  After college he played professional volleyball for 4 years.  He was a versatile player which was to his advantage, as he could help his team in so many ways.  As a professional he played Right Side and Middle Blocker.  After his years in the professional league, he still had a strong desire to compete and he continued to play in adult tournaments.  He and his wife, Cynthia Ortega, were the first couple to win MVP awards in the same tournament.  His passion for the game is evident whether he is playing or coaching.

Felix began coaching club volleyball in 1994 and has 11 years experience working with junior girls primarily in the 10U-14U age group.  He came to the U.S. two years ago and coached at the 16U age division for the first time.  Even though he had a young team with little experience, he was able to finish the season with a top 20 ranking in the state.  He has had success across the board as he has won championships with every age group he has coached, including the Puerto Rican National School Tournament on three different occasions.

Jose Seary enjoyed playing multiple sports in high school.  He has been involved 22 years doing Track & Field and 19 years in volleyball. Jose was an international athlete representing Puerto Rico in multiple international events.  He started playing indoor volleyball and beach volleyball in his freshman year of high school and has been playing and coaching ever since. In 1992, he began coaching both high school and club volleyball in Puerto Rico.  Seary has coached all levels oh high school volleyball for for one of the best high school volley ball teams in Puerto Rico.  He has had 17 years of experience coaching girls and boys ages 6-18 in youth volleyball. Jose also coached for a Division II college in Puerto Rico for 6 Years, winning 2 championship. Seary is very proud to be working with Orlando Volleyball Academy.

This is Sally's second season coaching at OVA.  She is also the assistant varsity coach at Boone High School where they were 2010 state runner-up. She graduated from Boone High School where she played volleyball all four years and was the varsity team captain her senior year. She played club at OVA throughout her 4 years in high school then went on to set at Millsaps College for two years. Her freshman year, she set a record for the most service aces in her conference.

She graduated from East Lincoln High School in Denver, NC where she played volleyball all four years on varsity as well as the team captain all 4 years & she earned MVP 3 years in a row. She played club ball for Carolina Juniors throughout her 4 years in high school and  got a scholarship to play at Lenoir Rhyne University in North Carolina. She played Right-Side for the Lady Bears, Freshman year She helped to lead to her team to the SAC Conference Championship in 2006, and was named conference all tournament player. She has also been on the 1st and 2nd All conference team in her four year at Lenoir Rhyne. She has coach Club for 3 years but it will be her first season here at OVA. She recently made the move to Florida and got married and now she is the head JV volleyball coach which had an undefeated season (12-0) as well as the assistant Varsity coach at Auburndale High School.

Kendia Perkins

Kendia has played volleyball since she was 11. She played club for 2 years. She went to college on a volleyball scholarship. Kendia has coached volleyball (recreation, middle school, high school and now club) for 10 seasons. She is a teacher by both nature and profession.

Chloe Heim

Chloe Heim grew up watching her older sister, Gracie Heim, play volleyball in high school and college. She began playing on an organized team in junior high through high school at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in Melbourne, Florida. She was appointed captain for three years for her high school team. She played club for her Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years of high school. She was assistant coach for the junior high and freshman teams at Holy Trinity her senior year and she also coached club at Wasomi Volleyball Academy in Melbourne. Chloe is currently a freshman at UCF pursuing a degree in nursing. This is her first year coaching at OVA and she is excited for the season.

TJ Wilson

TJ played high school volleyball for Edgewater High School as a defensive specialist and outside hitter. TJ also has 15 years of experience as a competitive baseball player. TJ Wilson has been with OVA since 2002 as an elite coach. His 15 Asics team qualified for the 2007 USAV Junior Olympic National Championships. TJ has also been the Varsity Assistant Coach for Winter Park High School for the last 5 years, as well as the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity and freshman teams.

Tito played professional volleyball in Puerto Rico for 19 years and 8 years for the national team (World volleyball games 1977, Pan American games ’79, Norceca Tournaments ’77 (beating the USA for the first time in history), and Central American Games.

Graduated from University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor's Degree in Education where he played 4 years winning 3 championships and selected for the World Universities Game National Team.

Tito served as UCF assistant coach 1998 to 2000, winning conference 2 years and making it to NCAA Div I 2nd round. He has also coached at the University of Puerto Rico and the high school level. Tito has coached college, club, high school and professional teams for 30 years and has also refereed all national divisions for more than 25 years. He comes to OVA with a wealth of knowledge and experience. OVA is pleased to have Tito back in Orlando. 

Teresa McLamb

Teresa comes to OVA with over 28 years of playing, coaching and officiating experience. Graduated from Satellite High School in Brevard County, Florida and went on to play volleyball at Florida Institute of Technology all 4 years on scholarship. She graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She has coached girls from 10-22 years of age. She started coaching high school volleyball in 1990. McLamb has coached at several high schools in Brevard County, Florida for 10yrs winning numerous conference, district and regional titles and also making it to the final four twice. She left high school coaching to coach college at Florida Institute of Technology, Brevard Community College and St. Petersburg College where she decided to retire to spend more time with her family. She came out of retirement in 2007 to mentor in Pasco County at Wiregrass Ranch High School and at St. Anthony Catholic School.

Teresa has been involved in USAV since 1990 as a player, coach and official. She helped initiate the first junior's volleyball club in Brevard County, Florida in 1990 along with playing and representing Brevard County on a USAV women's travel team for 7 years. She has officiated for USAV since 1990 at the Regional level.

Jennifer Hedger

 

14 National Red Head Coach

Jenn began playing volleyball at the age of 11 and has done so for the last 15 years. She was a setter on varsity her freshman and sophomore years at Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport, FL and was then moved to the outside senior year for both school and club. She started playing beach volleyball in 2001 and is currently a AA player traveling around Florida playing in Dig the Beach, East End Volleyball, Sunshine State Volleyball and Florida Beach Volleyball tournaments. Jenn was an assistant coach for St. Petersburg Christian School, working with middle school girls from 2007-2009 and a head coach for 14's and 15's with the St. Pete Canes club team in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, she worked with 12 year olds at Power Volleyball Academy and in 2010, she joined Orlando Volleyball Academy (OVA) as the head coach of a 14 National team. This will be her 5th season coaching club and her second at OVA.  She is also the freshman team coach at Winter Park High School and an assistant for the varsity team there as well. She's passionate about the game and enjoys sharing her excitement with younger girls interested in the sport.

Dan Hedger

Dan grew up playing basketball and earned a scholarship to Florida Gulf Coast University.  He then decided to pick up beach volleyball where he is now currently playing at the Open level on the East End Volleyball tour and Dig the Beach tour.  Currently, Dan is coaching at Winter Park High School, OVA, and with Orlando Gold.  He is entering into his second year with OVA and his first with Orlando Gold. This will be his third year coaching club volleyball.

Misty Tarbet

Misty has been playing and coaching volleyball for 15 years. This is Misty's first year with OVA after coaching club in Texas (ACE) and Kentucky (KIVA).  In high school, she was All-State three years and MVP after winning state her sophomore year. She played club for Dallas Summit 3 seasons. In college, she earned 4 conference awards, 3 region awards, and All-American awards at both the NJCAA and NAIA levels.  She graduated from Campbellsville University with a bachelor's in physical education and currently working on a master's in sport management.  She has her B-CAP Level I certification.

Valerie Hoffman

Val's experience includes over 11 years of organized volleyball during her school years including club ball at Cape Coast and Harbor City where she first played at the age of 10.  She continued playing club and school volleyball through junior high and high school.  During those years, she also attended numerous volleyball clinics and camps, including five years at Florida Southern College's summer camp.  After high school, Val was offered a full scholarship by Brevard Community College where she subsequently played for two years as setter and captain.           

From her first day at club tryouts, Val was a setter and she has played that position ever since.  She has loved every minute as a setter and she also loved the role of being the leader of the team.  Val had many memorable experiences during her years of playing volleyball including:  Her junior high team went to Brevard County semifinals one year and finals the second year.  Her high school team went to the Florida state quarterfinals one year, and the Florida state finals the following year.  She served as team captain for the Cape Coast Volleyball Club for both 16's and 17's teams.  She was selected as MVP for her team and as an ‘All Star’ for two years at Florida Southern College.  Nominated to Second Team All Conference both years while playing at Brevard Community College.  She coached a 15's team for the Cape Coast Volleyball Club.  She coached girls club teams for US Air Force families in Okinawa.           

After finishing her associates degree at Brevard Community College, Val declined an offer to play more college volleyball so that she could focus on her studies.  She attended the University of Central Florida, but that was interrupted after a year when she got married and subsequently moved to Okinawa, Japan for over three years.  Val continued to stay active in volleyball however and she recently moved back to Orlando where she will be finishing her BS at UCF with a degree in Biology Pre-Medical, and a minor (of course) in Coaching.  Val plans on attending Physicians Assistant school after completing her degree at UCF.  She is happy to be back in Orlando and excited to be coaching for Orlando Volleyball Academy.  “It is great to be coaching for OVA now after playing against them for so many years.” she said.

Jennifer McMullen

Jennifer started playing volleyball in fifth grade at Pine Castle Christian Academy.  She went on to play four years at Boone HIgh School which included three years on Varsity.  She was captain, All-Metro, and All-County her senior year.  She played OVA from 96-99 and was the a part of the first graduating class!  She went on to play at Florida Southern College but chose an Academic scholarship instead.  Jennifer graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology.  She then continued her career in retail management until she and her husband decided to start a family.  Now Jennifer wants to get back to volleyball!  She is currently coaching J.V and middle school volleyball at Cornerstone Charter Academy.

Steven is a graduate of the University of Mobile where he was a collegiate athlete. He has coached over the past 3 years in Alabama and is currently coaching girls and boys volleyball at Lake Brantley High School. This is his first year with OVA.

Josh will be entering his third year coaching with OVA. He has been playing volleyball for the past 10 years. He graduated from Winter Park High School, where he played volleyball all four years. Currently, he is attending the University of Central Florida seeking a degree in Business, as well as a minor in Coaching. Josh also coaches with both the Boys and Girls programs at Winter Park High School and Orlando Gold.

Taylor Menk

Taylor Menk is a 2011 Boone High School graduate who played volleyball since she was ten years old. She has been a member of the Orlando Volleyball Academy since 2004 where she played on U12 - U17 teams. Her 15 Asics team qualified and played in the 2008 USAV Junior Olympic National Championships.  She played on the Boone High School Varsity volleyball team from 2007 – 2010 as the Varsity Setter. In 2010, for the first time in school history, Boone finished as the State Runner Up in the 6A Division. She is currently studying at Valencia Community College to complete her prerequisite courses in order pursue her nursing degree. Taylor coached for the 2011 Fall Mini Season and is excited to coach again.

Tom Snodgrass

Tom is the club director and a coach for Orlando Gold. He has been coaching at OVA for the past 4 years. Tom graduated from Bishop Moore Catholic High School where he now assists the girls program and is the Boys Varsity Head Coach.  Tom played volleyball at the collegiate level for Webber University.  During his coaching career he has won one high school State Championship finishing a perfect 28-0, two high school Regional Championships, five District Titles, an AAU National Championship, won the Bronze Division at the open level finishing 10th in the nation, and 4 Juniors Regional Titles.

Stephanie Gibson

Stephanie Gibson says her mission is to teach young athletes to love the sport of volleyball, build self esteem and confidence in young women, and use their volleyball experiences to manufacture their life skills.  Coach Gibson is currently a Physical Education Teacher, and Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Winter Park High School.  She has been the varsity coach at Winter Park High School (2000-Present) and Miami Sunset (1989-1999).  In 23 years of coaching, Gibson has compiled a career record of 613-128. Gibson’s teams advanced to the FHSAA Regional playoffs in 22 of 23 seasons. Her teams have won 17 conference titles, 18 District Titles, 10 Regional titles, and 8 State Championship Titles (5 as a head coach).  Coach Gibson has been named Florida Dairy Farmer Coach of the Year in 1995, 2004, and 2005. She has been selected to coach the FACA State All-Star Game, and has been named Metro-Conference Coach of the year 7 times.  Gibson was a NHSACA National Finalist for Coach of the Year in 2006. In 1989, she took over as the director of the South Florida Volleyball Club, and held that position for twelve years. Currently she is a travel team coach with OVA.  Her club teams have qualified for the Junior National Tournament 10 times. Her 2009 and 2010 teams won back to back AAU National Championship titles for 14’s and 15’s. In addition to her coaching experience, Gibson also played on the collegiate level in two sports.  Coach Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Florida International University, while competing on the Volleyball and Softball Teams.  She is a CAP I certified volleyball coach.  Gibson has served five terms with the FHSAA Volleyball Advisory Committee.

Erik Peterson

 

15 Asics Assistant Coach

Prior to coaching in Orlando, Peterson spent four seasons as the assistant coach at USF. While with the Bulls, he helped guide the squad from a 4-22 record in his first season with the team to a 19-10 record in three-short years. Peterson's primary duties at USF were developing the skills of both the outside hitters and defensive specialists and serving as the secondary recruiter and director of volleyball operations.

Peterson was hired at USF after having worked with the USA Women's National Team as it prepared for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. As an assistant with the national team, he assisted the head coach in all facets of practice progression and also took classes at the USOC coaching sciences department. Peterson began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Florida in 2003. That season, he helped lead the Gators to the NCAA Championship match and a 36-2 record. Peterson's primary duties while at Florida were assisting with on-court training and individual sessions, scouting of opponents' offensive tendencies and charting video for the All-America selection committee.

The assistant's first coaching opportunity was at McIntosh High School in 1999. As the head coach of the freshman team, he led his squad to a 15-1 record. Peterson then moved into club coaching as the assistant coach of the South Atlanta Volleyball Club. In 2002, he returned to McIntosh High to serve as the head coach of the junior varsity team and the interim head coach of the varsity team, leading the varsity squad to its first appearance in the Elite Eight.

Peterson remains actively involved in the USA Volleyball Development Program. In the summer of 2006, he was an assistant coach at the Youth A2 High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. In that position, Peterson assisted in the training of the top-50 players in the youth national team age group under the guidance of Chuck Erbe, trained the outside hitters and coached the Youth National Team USA Gold to a fifth-place finish at the Junior National Tournament international division at the USA High Performance Championships.

Peterson has also served as a head coach at both the St. Leo and George Mason Developmental Camps and remains a lead tryout coach for USA Volleyball High Performance.

A graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., Peterson earned his bachelor's degree in biology in 1999. While at Concordia, Peterson was a member of the men's intercollegiate volleyball team from 1994-98, serving as captain his final two seasons. He was distinguished as the 1995 Concordia College Freshman Athlete of the Year and was named to numerous all-tournament teams. During his senior campaign he set a NCAA record for career digs with 1,103.

Vonn Howard

 

15 National Red Head Coach

Vonn is entering his seventh year as a coach with OVA, working primarily with 15 year old teams. He is originally from Tampa where he coached with Bob Sierra YMCA's Club Storm with teams ranging in ages from 13-16. Vonn graduated from Georgia Tech where he studied Industrial Engineering and Psychology. While at Tech, he was a member of the GT Volleyball Club and served as a head volleyball official for campus intramurals.
Vonn continually strives to improve himself as a player and coach. He has played for over 15 years and currently holds a Level I CAP certification from USA Volleyball.

Shannon Frickson

 

15 National Blue Head Coach

Born and raised in Minnesota, Shannon's love for athletic came at the age of 10. She played club volleyball for Southern Minnesota Volleyball out of Rochester, Minnesota as a right side and middle hitter. In high school Shannon was a 4 year starter in volleyball, basketball and 5yr starter in softball. After graduating from Houston High School, she attended MSU-Mankato and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Pre-Primary Education. While in college she coached Mankato Westside 15s and Rosemount 13s. She is currently the 9th Grade and Junior Varsity coach at Gateway High School in Kissimmee. This is Shannon's first year at OVA.

Chris Halliday

 

15 National Blue Assistant Coach

Chris was raised in the small town of Carlisle, PA and graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1981 with a BS in Entomology and Plant Pathology.  He moved to Florida in 1982 and began working at EPCOT.  Chris began playing volleyball at the age of 24 in numerous indoor, grass and sand venues.  He was a member of a USAV adult team, Orlando Roofing Company for several years as an OH.  His favorite venue has always been grass triples.  Chris was asked to coach in a newly formed club, Sunshine Volleyball Club in 1990.  The club director left during the first season and Chris along with Mark Equizi and Mark Headrick took the boy's 18 and under team to the 1991 JO Championships in Tampa, Florida.  Mark Equizi and Chris decided to continue the boys club the following season and thus began Orlando Gold.  Gold officially began as a club in 1992 under the direction of Co-founders and Co-directors Mark Equizi and Chris Halliday.  Chris coached the 18 and under team for the next 5 years after which Mark Headrick took the helm as the new director and head coach.  Chris coached the boys volleyball team at Ocoee HS from 2009-11.  He is currently the assistant coach for the girls team at Ocoee High School.  He has played at Adult Nationals for the past 4 years and is currently on the roster of The Ref Shop 50's as a middle blocker.  This is his second season coaching at OVA.  Chris is CAP I certified.

Rob Rowe

 

15 National White Head Coach

This is Rob’s second season coaching with OVA. He has played volleyball for the past 10 years.  Played high school volleyball at Lake Mary High School, then went on to play college volleyball at Lees McRae College.  Was a student assistant for the girl’s team at Lees McRae. Now the Girls Varsity Assistant at Lake Mary High School, and Boys JV Head Coach for Bishop Moore. Also the assistant coach for Orlando Gold 16’s.

Ahmed As-siadi

 

15 National Gold Head Coach

Ahmed has coached the U-14 team of Al-Ahli Club in Qatar 2008-2009 and assisted the head coach of the junior team for the same club. As a player, Ahmed has played volleyball since 1990. He played as a professional outside hitter and middle blocker in the senior team of Al Ahli Club in Qatar for 5 seasons. Achieved with the team a lot of awards the most recent one was the champions of Qatar Volleyball senior tournament 2008/2009 and third Place in the Qatar Volley Ball Senior Tournament 2007. He Played as an outside hitter in the junior team of Al Ahli club for more than 6 seasons and achieved with them the second place of the Junior Cup Tournament 2002 / 2003,  third place in  Junior League Tournament 2002/2003 and was elected as the best blocker of the tournament.

Alexis Culver

 

15 Regional Head Coach

Alexis attended Marathon High School in the Florida Keys, where she played all four years on varsity as an Outside Hitter. She was MVP and Captain her junior and senior year along with Female Athlete of the Year both years. To get more experience she decided to travel to Miami to play club with South Dade Volleyball Club. Culver then recieved a scholarship to Lake-Sumter Community College for 2 years, primarily as an outside hitter and to pursue her career in Sports Medicine. This is Alexis' third year coaching club. She coached one year with Lake County Juniors and now currently coaching her second year here at OVA.

Tony McDaniel

 

15 Regional Assistant Coach

Tony started playing volleyball during his time at Edgewater High School.  He then went on to play for the University of Miami's Club Volleyball Team for 5 years, primarily as an outside hitter, while obtaining Bachelors and Masters degrees in Industrial Engineering.  He also enjoys beach volleyball and has participated in numerous beach volleyball tournaments in the state of Florida.

This will be Trav’s 5th year with Orlando Volleyball Academy. The past three seasons he has guided his team to top 10 finishes at AAU Nationals. Last season his 16 Molten team finished as runner-up in the 16 Club Division at AAU Nationals. In 2010 his 16 Molten team finished tied for 5th at USA Volleyball Junior National Championships in the 16 American division. He is currently in his third year as head coach for his alma mater Lake Mary High School. At Lake Mary he has lead the program to two Seminole Athletic Conference Championships and one district championship. He played club volleyball for Florida State University, Orlando Gold, and during his senior year at Lake Mary High School he participated in the Inaugural Boy’s High School State Championship. He is a Level I CAP certified coach.

Dee Dee McClemmon

Dee Dee began her coaching career with UCF and served as both an Assistant coach and the Head coach for a total of   5 years.  She has been involved with club volleyball for 10 years and has coached with OVA for 8 of those. 

Linda Gomez

 

16 Molten Assistant Coach

Linda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Florida State University and has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.  She is a certified teacher in Florida and Georgia and has a state endorsement in Educational Leadership in Florida.  Linda is also certified with the Association of Christian Schools International, (ASCI) in Education. She currently is an Athletic Director and teacher at Community Christian School in Melbourne, Florida.
Linda has a CAP I, CAP II, and CAP III coaching certification from USA Volleyball and is a certified IMPACT Instructor, teaching entry level volleyball coaches for the USAV Florida Region. She has attended many coaching clinics, including the USA High Performance Coaching Clinic in Colorado, as well as the Gold Medal Squared Coaching Clinic. Linda is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Satellite High School in Brevard County and has coached for several community colleges in Florida.  She has directed many camps and clinics, including participating as a court coach in several USAV High Performance camps.  Linda has also mentored coaches through "Get Set", a coaches mentoring program she designed for local Brevard County coaches. Linda is married with three children, Katie, 18, Johnny 16, and Sveta, 14.

Ashley Schinzing

 

16 National Red Head Coach

Ashley has a well-rounded, diversified background in volleyball with experience as a coach, administrator, referee, and as a player.  In 2010, she was promoted from Assistant Director of Orlando Gold Boys Volleyball to a Director of the club.  Ashley has coached five years for Gold, and three years for OVA.   Her coaching experience also includes four years at Olympia High School coaching in both the boys' and girls' program.  She has also coached volleyball camps including: Rollins College, UCF,  TFA Varsity Camps, and OVA Camps.   In addition to coaching, Ashley was recruited while playing for OVA as an outside hitter for Mississippi College as Outside Hitter, Libero.  Her collegiate awards include Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP for leading her team as an outside.  In high school, Ashley was co-captain and outside hitter on The First Academy Varsity Team and had the honor of playing on the winning Senior All-Star Champion Team for Orange County.  In 2008, she had the proud honor of coaching her Orlando Gold 14's Team to the Gold Medal at  AAU Nationals.

Mike Iandolo received a bachelors degree in Criminal Social Justice from Lewis University. Also while at Lewis, Mike was a 3 time All MIVA volleyball player. Iandolo was also a member of both the youth and junior national teams. Currently Mike coaches for Bishop Moore High School, Orlando Gold Volleyball Club, and the Orlando Volleyball Academy, and has been coaching for 5 1/2 years.

Aleksey Natalevich

 

16 Regional Assistant Coach

Aleksey played volleyball at the midle school in Siberia, Russia. Since high school he has been doing Track & Field. While running for his university as a professional athlete, Aleksey played for his faculty on the university volleyball tournaments and has been practicing with a professional volleyball team from his university. In the last few years before moving from Russia, Aleksey has been coaching volleyball at the high school with kids from 14 to 18 years old. This is Aleksey's second year with Orlando Volleyball Academy.

Jeff Reavis

 

17 Asics Head Coach

Jeff Reavis begins his first season with OVA a coach and co-recruiting coordinator.   Reavis has had successful stints at the University of Tampa and the University of Florida and is now an assistant coach at Rollins College as well.

Reavis comes to OVA from Gainesville spending the last six years (2004-10) as the executive director of the Gainesville Juniors, one of the premier clubs in the state.  While there, he also served as the volunteer assistant coach at Florida.  Since 2005, he has also been the Buchholz High School varsity head coach, where he led his team to a District 6A state championship in 2007, while earning the Dairy Farms 6A Coach of the Year award. 

He began his coaching career as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Juniors in 1992 and spent 10 very successful seasons there.  Each year his teams qualified for the USAV Junior Olympics.  During that time, he also served as the assistant coach at Tampa, where the squad played in the NCAA tournament every year, finishing twice as the national runner-ups. 

Over 70 of his players have gone on to sign national letters of intent, including over 30 to Division I programs.  Reavis has been very involved with the USAV Florida High Performance Program, coaching the Junior National Team to a first-place medal in 2001 and '04, along with the Youth National Team to a third-place showing in 2006.  In 2005, he served as the Director of the Florida Region High Performance Program.

Tanya Jarvis

17 Asics Assistant Coach

Tanya has been a member of OVA as a player and then coach for the past 14 years. She currently just finish her fourth season as head coach for her alma mauter Bishop Moore Catholic and has compiled a record of 101-20.  The hornets finished their season as 4A State runners up and a national ranking of 10th according to MaxPreps.  Tanya also served her second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rollins College Lady Tars.  
 
Along with assisting for the Bishop Moore Boys undefeated State Champions in 2010, Tanya was the assistant coach at Winter Park High School in 2005 and captured the 2005 Class 5A State Championship.  She is also a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Girls' Volleyball Advisory Committee which she has served on for the past 3 years.
Prior to her coaching stints, Tanya was a standout athlete at the University of Central Florida where she was a four-year starter for the Knights.  She made three NCAA tournament appearances (2001-03) and holds three top-10 records in kills (6th / 1,039), aces per game (8th / 0.31), and digs (8th / 891).  In her first season with the Knights, Tanya was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team and in 2004 she was an Atlantic Sun Second Team member. Tanya played on both 1999 and 2000 Bishop Moore State Championship Teams under the direction of Sindee Snow. In 2001 Tanya and her partner Hannah Roberts placed 3rd at the USAV beach volleyball national championships.
Tanya graduated from The University of Central Florida in 2005 with a bachelor's of science in liberal studies and a minor in criminal justice.

Alicia Johnson

 

18 Asics Assistant Coach

Alicia Johnson started playing club volleyball competitively at the age of 10.  She attended high school in Tripoli, Iowa where she led them to one runner-up and three state championships in her four years.  She earned all-state honors every year and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Iowa her junior and senior year.  She went on to earn a volleyball scholarship to the University of Iowa.  She competed there as a freshman, playing in 31 of the 32 matches.  She finished her college career after transferring Southern Illinois University. Her junior year she earned Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament team.  Her senior year, she started every match and was second on the team in kills and digs and earned MVP honors at the UCONN Invitational.   Alicia has aspirations to one day coach at the college level, but until then she greatly enjoys coaching at The Orlando Volleyball Academy.

Betsy Markham

 

18 Molten Head Coach

Betsy is in her 8th year coaching juniors, after coaching one year with OVA right out of high school.  She has coached for Gainesville Juniors for the last 6 years along with the University of Florida Women's Club Volleyball Team last year.  During her time in Gainesville she was an assistant coach at Buchholz High School winning the 6A State Championship in 2007.  Growing up in Orlando, Betsy played high school volleyball at Edgewater High School and joined the coaching staff at Bishop Moore this year as an assistant.  Betsy graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Building Construction.
